SIAM’S LEADER PREDICTS SERIOUS CLASS WARFARE

Poverty and Communist Activity in Asia (Rec, 10.30) BANKOK, March 24 Marshal Phibun Songgram, Siam’s “strong man” who led the coup d’etat last November, said to-day that he considered all of Asia is heading towards “protracted and virulent class warfare.” He said that the causes of the coming conflict were:— Firstly: The post-war developments. Secondly: The Communist propganda., Thirdly Communist infiltration into the Asian freedom movements. Fourthly: Widespread poverty and disruption resulting from the second world war. Marshal Phibun discounted the possibility of an armed conflict between the major powers in the near future, but he said he believed that the warfare of ideologies was menacing society.
