CARPENTERS TO DROP GO-SLOW
Move for Settlement P.A- WELLINGTON. March 24 Mr F. L. Langley, the president of the New Zealand Carpenters’ and Joiners’ Union, announced today, after a meeting of the National Council of the Union, that normal work is to be resumed by the carpenters. He said that this decision had been taken in order to facilitate a settlement of the dispute which gave rise to the go-slow policy in January. Mr Langley said: “The National Council has agreed to a recommendation of the Federation of Labour to effect a settlement of the carpenters’ issues in dispute, and has also agreed to a recommendation to resume normal work to facilitate such a settlement." The National Executive of the Federation of Labour discussed the dispute to-day but it has made no statement.
