AUCKLAND, January 29. Sea and air transport combined are at present insuflicient Io handle the very large number of passengers crossing the Tasman to Australia. The Union Company’s steamer Wahine, which maintains an interim passenger service between Wellington and Sydney is fully booked un to her last listed voyage in May. and heavv bookings have also peen made for'travel by the . American steamer Marine Phoenix, which makes more infrequent voyages from Auckland to Sydney. fill , “The services are comfortably lilted in February anti March, and are easier for April and May,” said Mr G. N. Roberts, general manager of lasman Empire Airways. "To cope with the demand the company will increase the number of weekly flights from eight to nine for the period from February 22 to the end of March. This will be the largest number of weekly flights ever made by the service, but it is not expected that ■the increase will make many more additional passages available, as It will be absorbed mostly from the; waiting list.”
