A mgn who borrowed 6d to commit a murder, was sentenced Io death at the Old Eailey yesterday. He is Walter Cross. 21-year-ola lorry" driver, and the jury took an hour to find him guilty of murdering 55-year-old crippjed watchmaker Percy Busby. The jury added a recommendation •to mercy. Cross learned that Busby always had a wallet full of money for cash deals. , , . He decided to rob him, but was so "deadbroke” he had to borrow Gd from a friend to pay his fare to Barking. • < When Cross’s wife, who is expecting a baby next month, heard the verdict, she screamed and had to be led from the building.
