LADY BURFORD APPEALS AT PAHIATUA
The Pahiatua Racing Club has received small, though select fields for its summer meeting, which will be held at Woodville to-morrow. Several of the runners were raced at Trentham, but Ashhurst form may be a more reliable guide. The small field in the''main event should favour the long-striding mare Lady Burford. She raced consistently over the holidays and a win for her would not be unexpected. Tremello may be Lady Burford’s most dangerous opponent. Flis failure in the Mungaroa Hurdles at Trentham can be overlooked when assessing his chances tomorrow. The Ringmaster gelding is a good handicapper, away from the metropolitan class, and he is capable of a forward showing. The Newmarkef will probably see Red Herring at short odds, but any price is good on a winner.
The following horses may show up in their respective engagements:— Pongaroa Handicap: Master Gary, Lady Vite, Village Squire. Hamua Handicap: Irish Scholar. Molly Adair, Belle Mignonne. ~ Nursery Handicap: Golden Arrow. Joyful Lady, Perdita. President’s Handicap: Lady Burford, Tremello, The Stormovik.
Trial Plate: Determination, Description. Trafalgar Day. Tararua Handicap: Veine d’Or, Petre Mar, Lord Holland. Newmarket Handicap: Red Herring, Belle Anita, Trig Point. Rodney Memorial: Tenor Royal, Tuki Ngapo, Culloden Moor.
