THE TURF IMPERIAL GRATTAN HAS CHANCE TO MAKE AMENDS
The Forburv Park Trotting Club’s mid-summer meeting will be concluded to-morrow wnen good neias wiil face the starter in nrost events. First day’s form should give investors a good guide when making a final summation. The main event, the Metropolitan Handicap, has mucn the same field as did the Dunedin Cup on the opening day. Satan has been penalised 24 yards for her vyin in the Cup. Produced in the Flying Handicap, the final event, she was not equal to footing it with Maori Home, Imperial Grattan and Golden Shadow over the 11 furlongs. By his forward showing against the highclass pacer. Maori Home, Impei lai Grattan gave indications that he mav be coming back to his best, which is good. Checkmate was never a possibility in the Cup, but he is too good a horse to be discarded on that performance. Follow Me was runner up to Safari after having every chance. Golden Shadow paced two honest races on the first day to take the minor placing on each occasion. The remainder of the field will have to show considerable inw provement to be of any danger. The Au Revoir Handicap, the final event of the meeting, has drawn a good class field, but there is little doubt that Maori Home will see a short price. What beats the Dillon Hall gelding will certainly have to be good. It is reported the track is in first-class order, and the following horses may have prospects: —
Waverley Handicap: Beilisima, Buncrana, Francis Grattan. Stewards’ Handicap: Happy Dale, Victory Dale, Trustee. Gore Memorial: Gough’s Pride, National Velvet, Clueless. Metropolitan Handicap: Imperial Grattan, Checkmate, Safari. Crescent Handicap: Belmoral, Flying Scott, Jason’s Quest. Telegraph Handicap: Red Herring, South Wind, Henry of Navarre. Royal Handicap: Novelda, Dragoman, Coral Princess.
Au Revoir Handicap: Maori Home, Imperial Grattan, Checkmate.
