RECORD CHEQUE FOR WOOL IN HAWKES BAY

Over a Million F.A. NAPIER, January 29. The second day of the Napier wool' sale concluded on a note just as strong as on Monday, when the first portion of the 38.000 bales offering was submitted. The market suffered no setback from the periods of inactivity) The whole of to-day, in fact, saw bidding by a limited number of operators maintained on a steady level of advanced prices. The whole offering was cleared, and the Joint Organisation was relieved of responsibility occasioned by passings.

A record price of 57d per lb for Corriedale wool, received early in the morning, was not improved upon, but numerous lines of super fine cross-bred made in excess of 40d per lb. The pay-out on the prompt date, February 17, is expected to be beyond the million sterling mark. Certainly it will be a record for wool auctioning at Napier.

Fine cross-bred, 50’s: super 30d to 32d, good 28d to 30d< average 24d to 26d, inferior 23d to 2’4d. Medium cross-bred. 56/50’s: super 28d to 29d, good 26d to 27d, average 24d to 26d, inferior 21d to 23d. Strong cross-bred. 46/48’s: superto 28d, good 25d to 2'6d, average 24d to 25d, inferior 21d to 23d. Fine cross-bred hogget (unshorn) 50/54’s: super to 29d, good 27d to 28d. average 25d to 26d. Fine cross-bred hogget (shorn) 50/54’s: super to 3_9d, good 30d to 34d, average 2'7d to 30d. Medium' cross-bred hogget, 46/50’s: sfoed 26’d to 27id, average 241 d to 26d. Lambs—-fine cross-bred, 50's: super to 38d, good 31d to 34d, average 26d, to 30d. inferior 19d to 24d. Crossbred, 48/50’s: good to super 30d to 33d, average 25d to 29d, inferior 19d to 24d.
