REC. 6.10). LONDON, Jan. 29. The French National Assembly met on Wednesday night, and hearci a two-hour speech by the Finance Minister, M. Mayer. M. Mayer said that Sir Stafford Cripps (British Chancellor of the ExChequer) had urged that there should be a limit of three months ei the operation of the free gold market, but his proposal had to be rejected. because it would not give sufficient time to stabilise the currency, which would require at least ‘dx months.
