BRUNNER NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent.) A very successful children’s aft. 61 -" noon was held in the Wallsend Hall on Saturday, dances and games being enjoyed by all present. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the ladies’ committee. A small charge of 6d per child went to the Miss Russia fund. Another of these gatherings will take place in the near future. Mr W. McAnulty, who formerly resided in this district and had been reported as wounded and missing for ten months, has now been officially reported as killed. Young Bill was an “Argus” paper runner at Dobson before he left the district to reside in Christchurch.
Mr G. McAnulty of the R.N.Z.A.F. is the guest of Mr and Mrs A. Robb, of Taylorville. Mrs R. Rothera has returned home from a holiday visit to Christchurch. Mrs J'. Falconer, of Christchurch, and previously of Brunner, is the guest of Mrs Myers, of Taylorville. Miss B. Moore, of Christchurch, is visiting her mother, Mrs P. Moore, Taylorville. The Brunner branch of the Miss Russia Committee is holding a shop day in the Miss Russia shop, Greymouth on Friday. A canvas is being made of the district. People who desire to send produce, etc., would assist by leaving donations at Hill's Store, in Dobson, and Mrs Rostern’s at Wallsend. The parade of the Brunner W.W.S.A. will not be held this week but members, are to go to the Taylorville Pavilion to help in decorating the hall for a dance to be held for Miss Russia on Saturday night.
