“ASHES” CUP MISSING IN ENGLAND. [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] LONDON, September 21. The Rugby League “Ashes” cup for which the Australians have come to England, has mysteriously disappeared. Exhaustive search by officials proved fruitless. It was last seen in 1934. Mr. John Wilson, Rugby League secretary, said he had not seen the cup for three years, when it went out of his possession, and was not returned. If the cup is not found, it is possible that the Courtney Goodwill trophy, designed and presented by R. O. Courtney, of Christchurch, will be substituted, although the donor intended it to be contested by all countries playing Rugby, which was not found possible.
