CATTLE EASIER Other Lines Firm (From Our Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, September 22. At the Addington Market to-day, the store sheep formed a smaller entry than last week. The market was decidedly harder, hoggets being again keenly sought for, especially ewes. Ewe hoggets were selling up to 45s 3d. . The fat sheep comprised. also a smaller entry. The quality was fair, with a few outstanding lines forward. There was keen competition, especial'' Iv for ewes, the price being better by Is 6d a head, and wethers being on a par with last week’s sale. Fat hoggets had a very keen sale. Best wethers fetched 49s lOd, and best ewes 50s 4d. . The fat cattle were again a Smaller entry. The quality was fairly good. There was a distinctive easing m values of approximately 2s per 100 lbs. on heavy-weight cattle, while heifers and cows showed a minor easing. Rougher sorts were hard to quit. There was a slight improvement as the sale progressed. Extra prime heavy steers sold to £2l 17s 6d, prime heavy steers £l5 5s to £l6 10s, prime medium weight steers £l3 5s to £l5, ordinary steers £lO to £l2 10s, light steers to £9 15s; extra prime heifers to £l3 17s. 6d, prime heifers £lO to £l2 ss, medium heifers £6 15s to £9 10s, light heifers to £6 10s; extra prime cows £l3 12s 6d, prime cows £8 5s to £lO, medium cows £6 to £B, light cows to £5 15s. The entry of pork was fairly heavy and had an excellent sale, but, if anything, prices were easier. Choppers were in medium supply, and had a keen sale. Bacon was a small entry, and met an animated sale. Choppers fetched 55s to £5 11s, light porkers 36s 6d to 42s 6d, medium pork 46s 6d to 54s 6d, heavy pork 57s 6d to £3 6s 6d, the average price per lb. being 71d to 81d. Baconers fetched £3 12s 6d to £5 8s 6d, the price per pound being 7d- to Bd. Store pigs constituted a large entry. There was a keen sale of all classes. Weaners fetched 15s to 255, slips 25s to 275, stores 28s to 395, and sows in pig £4 2s 6d.
