HON. F. E. O’FLYNN
Mr. Frank O’Flynn, whose appointment as a Legislative Councillor will be hailed with pleasure by a host of ,friends on the West coast, was a well known teacher in this district, prior to his transfer to Canterbury about 17 years ago. A native of the West Coast, Mr. O’Flynn joined the teaching profession in youth, and became Headmaster of Dobson School. When a school was established at Runanga at the commencement of the State coal mining venture, Mr. O’Flynn was appointed Headmaster, and held the position for a number of years. He then obtained promotion to Canterbury, and only recentlj 7 , on the occasion of his retirement from the Headmastership of the Public School at Hornby, Christchurch, he was tendered a presentation and a most enthusiastic farewell by the pupils of the school. Mr. O’Flynn has alwayse evinced a keen interest in the Labour movement, and his presence in the Legislative Council should add to the debating and analytical ability of that chamber.
OTHER APPOINTEES.
Mr. David Wilson is the Secretary of the New Zealand Labour Party, preceding Hon W. Nash in that canacity two years ago. He is regarded as a most efficient officer of the Party. Hon Mr. Trevethick was previously a member of the Upper House hav* ing been appointed in 1929 by Sir Joseph Ward, and having last year retired when his term ended. Rev. G. K. Archer is one of the best known figures in the nolictical Labour movement in Christchurch and has been several times mayor of the city. . .
