BIG RIVER. The report for the period ending September 16, stated: — No. 4 level intermediate centre stope: In the north end 38 feet from the winze, more solid stone appears to be making in the footwall, and this may be the south end of the north block. In the south end work stopped on the hanging wall branch as the stone was cutting out overhead, an have started work on the lootwall track on stone about 21 feet wide. South block intermediate: Haxe taken out 19 feet on the footwall tor an average width of 51 feet. imbalance on the hanging wall side is still to be taken out, also feet ol stone that is running into the footwall on the north end of the stope. No. 5 level south block stope: Drovv 7 feet on a small splice in the south end, which has cut out to 4 inches wide overhead and have also been tilling the stope. Getting ready to start another stope. . , , Centre slope: Have carried along this stope for 38 feet through boulders of stone mixed with reef track. More solid stone appears to be coming into the south face. The north drive has been driven for 14 feet through reef track, the first 9 feet consisting of stringers of stone lor the width of lhe drive in which some fine gold can be seen. r l he cut ahead is in reef track with a little stone in stringers showing. As far as opened up there appears to. be a shoot ot stone overhead, making stronger going south-west.. Eighty-seven and a half tons of stone were delivered to the surface bins. MATAKI JUNCTION.
