HOKITIKA NOTES
[Our Own Correspondent]. HOKITIKA, September 20. There was a large attendance at the funeral of the late Mr. William McMullan, of Hampden Street, on Saturday afternoon. Many floral tributes were received. Rev. Murray Feist conducted the services at the residence and graveside. Last evening rain set in and continued steadily through the night. This morning further showers fell. Last week’s rainfall was 1.15 inches, and there was over 42 hours of sunshine. In connection with the Westland sub-centre of the Red Cross Society classes will be held for women on home nursing at the Westland Hospital on Tuesday of next week and for men on first aid at the Soldiers’ Hall on Thursday. At the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr. A. E. Benjamin, J.P., the police charged a young man, for whom Mr. James appeared, with being found in ( a state of intoxication in charge of a car in Revell Street on Saturday morning. On the application of Sergeant Gilligan, a remand was granted to Friday next, with bail of £25.
