Mr. J. Byrne, of the staff of Kennedy Bros., wno underwent an operation in the Grey River Hospital, returned to his home during the week end.

The funeral of the late George Scandrett took place at Karoro Cemetery yesterday afternoon. The services' at the residence of Mr. B. Scandrett, Fox Street, Cobden and at the graveside were read by Rev H. R. Fell.
Mr. J. B. Kent a member of the Board of Governors of the Greymouth Technical High School, will leave this morning to attend the annual conference of the Technical Education Association at Wellington.
A Dunedin Press Association telegram announced the death of Mr. John Garbutt, aged 51, for the past ten years Dunedin Probation Officer, and originally a mental hospital attendant at ’ Nelson. He was later court orderly at Dunedin.

The death occurred at Wellington yesterday of Mr. William Fairchild Marsh, aged 74, who was formerly Crown Lands Commissioner of Westland. Appointed a cadet in the Survey Department in 1879, he eventually’occupied the dual positions of Chief Surveyor and Commissioner of Crown Lands, first for Westland, and then for the Hawke’s Bay-Gisborne district, and finally for Auckland, retiring in 1925.—Press Assn.
The death occurred suddenly last night at her residence, Buccleugh Street, of Mrs. Ellen Prendergast, wife of William Prendergast, of the Borough Gasworks staff. A native of County Tipperary, Ireland, the deceased, who was 62 years of age, came with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. James Dillon, to the West Coast in her infancy, residing first at Paroa, and for the past 36 years in Greymouth, she had been in weak health for a lengthy period. She leaves a family of one daughter, Miss Eileen Prendergast, and three sons, John, Thomas and William, all of Greymouth.
