New British Liners SHIPBUILDERS OUT FOR “SCOOP.” (Received September 17,8.0 p.m.) PRINCETON (British Columbia), September 16. Lord Beatty, President of the Canadian Pacific Railway Coy., said that increased British costs in shipbuilding might conceivably delay the construction of two new vessels for the Can-adian-Australian line, unless the most favourable financial arrangements could be effected. He added that the costs had greatly increased after the opening of the negotiations with the intention of competing with the Matson Line. RISE IN PACIFIC FARES. (Received September 17. 11.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, September 16. The “Herald-Tribune’s” Boston correspondent says: The Trans-Pacific passenger fares are being increased by seven per cent., from October Ist. (Received September 17, 5.6 p.m.) SYDNEY, September 17. The Mariposa sailed at noon for Auckland.
