MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. Mr. W. O’Neill, was voted to the cnair at last evening’s meeting of the Management Committee of the West Coast Rugby League. There were also present Messrs W. Barlow, B. Rathbun, B. Ramsay, J. Anisy, A. Fielding (referees) and R. J. Harrington (secretary). Apologies were received from Messrs J. Stokes and A. Kyle. The Greymouth Borough Council advised that the Recreation Ground would not be available after September 18.
The Inangahua Sub Centre wrote suggesting that senior and junior representative fixtures be played at Reefton (seniors), and Waiuta (juniors) on October 3. Mr. Fielding said that he would prefer to see the games played, rather than carrying on with Club fixtures. . . Mr. Barlow said that the finishing of the Club fixtures should be the first consideration. It was decided, on the motion of Messrs Rathbun and Barlow, that owing to the lateness of the season, it was regretted that the fixture could not be arranged. In a letter of explanation, the Inangahua Sub Centre stated that their previous letter, regarding the Thacker Shield District final, had been written with the full approval of the Sub-Centre, which had intended no reflection on the Blackball Club; that the Sub-Centre had not written to Blackball as had been stated, but that Waratahs had communicated with Blackball by phone; that the SubCentre understood that the final could have been played on August 28 had Blackball not been granted permission to travel to Christchurch on that dale, and that the Sub-Centre was not responsible for transport of Clubs. The explanations were accepted by the meeting. Marist were granted permission to play Hornby for the O’Grady Cup, at Greymouth, on Sunday next. It was decided to congratulate Addington on their win for the Thacker Shield.
