OBITUARY
william McDougall. The death occurred at the Grey Hospital yesterday afternoon of Mr William McDougall, builder, of Kilgour Road, who succumbed to grave internal injuries sustained at the No Town Creek bridge on. the Kamaka road deviation on Wednesday last. Mr McDougall was engaged in assisting to lift a twenty-foot concrete pile into position for driving, when it broke away and knocked him to the ground. The full weight of the heavy pile w r as kept off his body, however, by its falling across a thick piece of wood, which prevented it from crushing him into the ground. A native of Gore, and 44 years of age, the late Mr McDougall was a prominent builder and contractor who had been engaged in the building trade on the West Coast for the past 14 years. He served his apprenticeship in Gore, and after working at Gisborne for some time came to Greymouth. The late Mr McDougall was the builder of the new Runanga State School, whilst in company with Mr N. Page, with whom he had in recent times worked in partnership, built the new grandstand for the Greymouth Jockev Club at Omoto. Deceased was the sixth son of Mr David McDougall, M.P., for Mataura, and the late Mrs McDougall, of Gore. Besides his wife and a young family of three daughters. he is survived by eight brothers, Messrs Robert (Wanganui). Andrew (Oaonui), David and James (Gore), Stephen. Jack and Hugh (InvercargilD: and four sisters. Mesdames Hicks and Burgess (Gore). Milburn (Dunedin), and Hall (Marsden Road. Greymouth). An inquest will be held.
