SCARLET FEVER
Ashburton Outbreak | Per Press Association J. ASHBURTON. September 13. Scarlet fever has broken out in the country ba<'kblocks. There arc live cases at Somerton, all from two houses, and one case in the Ashburton Borough. The County Inspector slates the Somerton cases arose from one case, which had not been reported. Rokcley school has boon closed as a preeau t io nary mea s lire. CHRISTCHURCH, September 13. The live cases of scarlet fever from the Somerton district were notified to the Ashburton County Health Inspector (Mr E. N. Johnson), during the week-end. The Somerton School was closed to-day for this week. The outbreak has occurred among the children of two families, four being of school age, and all were admitted to the Ashburton Public Hospital. The infection was traced to a case which had occurred in the district about three weeks ago, and which was not reported to the authorities.
