N.Z. CONFERENCE. THE T.B. SCHEME. CHRISTCHURCH, March 1. A special conference of the representatives of the Hospital Boards of the Dominion was held to-day to discuss the proposals of Dr Blackmore, Superintendent of the Canterbury Tuberculosis Sanatoria, for a Dominion scheme for the treatment of tuberculosis. The proposals comprised the establishment in each island of an organisation of Hospital Boards to provide and maintain tuberculosis dispensaries, fresh air homes, sanataria for incipient cases, special hospitals for advanced cases, working colonies for patients on the way to recovery, and, generally, to control comprehensive preventive measures in respect of tuberculosis. The Conference discussed the scheme in committee, and at the conclusion, it was reported that it had been resolved to recommend the General Conference, which meets to-morrow, to refer the matter to the Executive of the Hospital Boards Association to take whatever evidence it considered necessary, and to submit its recommendations to a further conference of the Association.
