MOTOR UNION.
NORTH ISLAND MEETING. WICI.LrXGTOX, pelruary 25. The X'orth Island Motor Union at its half yearly meeting resolved that the Union consider drawing the attention of the Legislature to the noise cans. 4 by certain motor-cycles and other motor vehicles, with a view to having legislation passed making the use of cutoffs on public roads illegal, except in the case of recognised conqietitions. An Executive remit was carried that a deputation should wait upon the authorities urging that where a motorist is prosecuted for any breach, the offender should be notified by post o’ otherwise of the proceedings pending within seven days of any offence. The Conference protested against proposed by-lows in which local bodies prohibit pillion riding. It was decided that the authorities lie asked to prohibit all record breakjnf ;' from centre to centre. In welcoming the delegates, 1h Mavor of Wellington referred to the desirability of all centres working under one set of traffic regulations. In reference to roads wemring out before the loans had expired, he said that it some sinking fund to supplement tie ordinary provision, in accordance with the life of the road, could be institut ed, it would simplify the position. Mr Toogood (chairman of the con ference) made reference to the various aims and matters of interest to the union. lie expressed the hope that cars might soon be allowed to park in well lighted parking places without lights.
