NORTH v. SOUTH.
SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING. AUCKLAND WINS OUT. Recognition of the School of Engineering at Auckland Universitv College, which for many years has been the sub ject of keen debate, was to (lav agreed to by the University Council, Ihe following resolution being carried bv thirteen votes to seven: “Tliht, in accordance with the recmnniemlat ion of the Royal Commission on Universitv Education in N.Z., 1925. the School ot Engineering at Auckland Universitv College be recognised as providing training for the first and second professional examinations for tlm B.E. Degree in civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering. There wore some warm passages in the debate. Mr F. A. Delaim-re (of Hamilton) saying the people of Canterbury ami Otago wore crusaders in the matter at issue, and had formed a holy alliance to defeat the ends of the AuckAir W. J. Morrell (Otago) said the statement was entirely groundless, and should be withdrawn. Mr Delamere accordingly withdrew it.
