(Our Own Correspondent). Mr. F. Cooper has been admitted to the Beeftoil Hospital for treatment. Miss Taylor (of .Christchurch) is visiting Mrs R. A. Stewart. Mrs J. Short is spending a few weeks in Alexandra (Otago). Mrs Bracegirdle, who has been ill fe> j some weeks, is now convalescent. Mis K. Armstrong is spending a fev.days with her sister Mrs T. Broderick. At a general meeting of the Waiuta Miners’ Medical Association, held or. Sunday last, it was unanimously decided t ) renew for a further period of two years, the agreement at present -existing between Dr. Church, the Inangahua ospital Board and the Association. Arrangements are well in hand for the annual school picnic and sports to be held on Saturday next. The school children are to be admitted to the pictures on Saturday evening free of charge, after which a dance will be held for adults. The chopping and saw ing events have drawn numerous entries, and give a fine day the outing should be most enjoyable. The burning question here at presen.; is: “Whether the Empire should provide it patrons with pints, or not.’ At a meeting of the “Amalgamated So »iety of Froth Blowers” held in the Re creation Ground on Monday, it was de elded to stand firm, and to solicit the suport of the “Beer Shifters’ Union’ in an endeavour to obtain longer drink ing conditions for members of the or ganisation.
