SWIMMING.
GREYMOUTH CLUB’S CARNIVAL. The Greymouth Swimming Club met last evening, when there were present: Dr. McKay (Chairman), Messrs E. McDonnell, Fpilding, Rattray, Doogan, Parkinson, Kehoe, Baker, and Walters (secretary). It was decided to hold a 90 yards men’s race and a 50 yards boys’ race on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. A discussion took place as to next Wednesday’s carnival, for which officers were appointed as follows:— Judges, Messrs Barrett, McDonnell, and Rattray; Diving Judges, Messrs E. Moss and E. McDonnell; Announcer, Mr E. Kehoe; Starters. Messrs Giescking, Parkinson and Baker; Time-keeper, Mr J. Tennent; Call Steward, Air M. Jamieson. Mesdames Leahy and McKec.hnie kindly offered to take charge of the afternoon tea for the competition. It was decided to request the Regatta Club to line some launches along the outside of the swimming pool in order to facilitate the holding of the carnival. The Misses Kelly, in conjunction with Mr A. G. White, consented to give an exhibition,of aquaplaning. The committee reported a large sale of tickets, and they were assured of the carnival proving a great success. The date of the closing of nominations was extended till Saturday.
