THE GREYMOUTH ELECTIONS
It was not apparent through the clay, yesterday, that any particular interest was being taken in the elections, -but the Returning Officer reports that during- the afternoon vot)n>.tf was fairly .solid. The greatest interest seemed to be centred round the declaration of the poll which took place at 10.50 p.m *™ m ,f ar ]y in the evening the } Argus office was .beseiged over" the phone and otherwise with anxious enquiries as to the result of the poll, and the posting of the Blaketown and School returns were received with excitement. After the declaration of trie poll by the Returning Office (Mr Campbell) the various candidates successful and unsuccessful thanked the electors ?or the support accorded to them.
