Jxrk, a retired farmer, are candidates. , For the twelve seats in .the Council, twenty-five nominations have been received. : Three of the present couuc:licr c stand out for a high school board, four for two seats for Harbour Bcr.rd, and' four for three seats lor Waimate Board. • Mr Norton Francis was Jc-cTrc-ed Mayor (unopposed). There are sixteen candidates for nine seats in the Council. (Tsmuka). J. T. M. Hayhurst a former Mayor opposes T. Buxton, M^P.. present Mayor at Temuka. At Waimate, th<* Labor Party makes a bid for a sMire of the representation, six , candidates in each case accepting tickets.
