A meeting* fof irepresen/taltrives (of the dairying" centres have formed a union. Its primary object is to combat the claims for higher wages and better working- hours of the Rural Workers Union wnen they come before the Arbitration Court.

In replying- to the toast of "The Government, and Parliament" at' the reunion of veterans, the Hon. O. Sarriule, -M.L.C., said that men acquired no weialth in parliament. There was no distonesty in our Parliament .and never had been. But most of the legislators lost • their health for the hours were far beyond what any men should "be exposed to.— ("Hear, hear !" • from the other legrislatorsi present.) The atmosphere in the Parliamentary .buildin.ers was not only productive of bad temper, but also of a'bsolut disease, and he considered that one of the thin.qrs due to parliament was thaut the, evils which were siifferecl by' those elected.
