TIMARU PRESBYTERY
(By Telegraph — Per Press i\ssociatioß) TIMAiRU, Aprilll. ;A* the Timaru Presibytery to-day a remit from the Assembly suggested that the presbytery should urge people to vote ho-license, .gave rise to discussion. A motion was made that it 'be left to each minister to help the- cause of temperance in the manner he thinks best, and the seconder added that no-license should not be a test question in selecting- a minister. , • ... An amendment that we do urge on to 'the people the desirability of voting- no-license was carried by six> to four. The eight/ ministers present were equally divided, itwo elders .giving a majority. Another remit expressing- sympathywith Labour and recommending that Presbyteries, where necessary, appoint committees to 'learn -the aims of the lafcour movement and foster f rar terna? relations between the 'Church and Labour was moved, 'but no action was taken, ministers saying that •they had studied the movement, and that ministers should know no class distinctions. The majority. of Church people had ' ito work', with hand or rain for a liying 1 .. . .
