[to the editor.] Sir. — With reference to a letter in your contemporary, the Evening Star, signed " A Married Man," there is a covert insinuation that I am the author of the letter of yesterday's date, under the signature of "Civis." I most tically deny that I ever, knew of such a scurrilous production, and would have been ashamed of myself if, when reading it in your paper, I had thought I had aided its production iv any way. G.
