MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.

[to the editor.] Sir, — I am so pleased to see so many of our business men aspiring to the honor of Municipal Councillors, as it indicates that more than usual interest is being taken in the management of matters municipal ; but while appreciating their public spirit and their desire to conserve no doubt the interests of the ratepayers, I should like to hear their opinions on public matters which are likely to come before the Council for consideration. I do not believe any of the candidates came forward to seek election with narrow-minded motives, but as some of them may imagine that the cutting of a road to certain sections, the opening up of a drain, or the filling up of a back yard, a gigantic policy to carry out, and a sufficiently broad principle to claim election on, I am anxious to hear them speak, and also to question them as a ratepayer and elector. 1 wish them to call a meeting, so that I may be able to come to a conclusion who to vote for. The candidate who can lay before the meeting a scheme for the reducing of our enormous taxation, and at the same time carry out works that are imperatively required in the Borough, shall have my influence, interest, a,nd vote. I am, &c, An Elector.
