[from a correspondent.] Nelson, May 13. Mr Donne moved, last night, to repeal the Executive Ordinance, and that other provisions should be made in lieu hereof. He asked that leave should be given him to introduce a Bill to give effect to his object. Mr Wastney seconded the motion. Mr Adams moved, as an amendment, to strike out out the words, " that leave be given the mover to introduce the Bill." This was seconded by Mr Ivess. The discussion i turned principally in favor of responsible Government, but it was opposed strongly. The division resulted in favor of the amendment. Ayes : Messrs Adams, Ivess, Baigent, Boase, M'Lean, Sharpe, Gibbs, Wastney, Parker, Routt, arid Kerr. Noes : Greenfield, Shepherd, Shapter, Pitt, Oorbett, Tarrant, M'Guire, and Kelling. There is a strong desire to reduce the cost of the Executive and responsible Government. The Treasurer delivered his financial statement, which is regarded as unsatisfactory. < Consideration of the estimates is adjourned till Thursday.
