GOLD-MINING DISTRICTS ACT.
. [to the editor.] Sir — A subject of late has been commented upon among miners in this district, of which possibly it may be in your power to give some further partiulars. I allude to a Bill entitled the Gold Mining District Act, 3873, which was passed daring the last sitting of the General Assembly, and as.l learn has the special characteristic of being beneficial to the mining community of New Zealand. As a proof of this, as I am informed, one of its main features is, that it provides with no niggard hand for increased taxation to a monstrous extent upon mining property, such as head-races, dams, reservoirs, residence sit «, &c. If it be in your power to give infortnatim with regard to this new Bill, you will greatly oblige Yours, &c, A Miner. New Eiver, Dec. 14r
