WRITTEN TENDERS will be received at the Public Works Office, Hokitika, up to Noon on WEDNESDAY, 17th DECEMBER, for the CONSTRUCTION of SECTIuN No. 1 of ROAD, Hokitika to Blue Spur, being in length about one hundred and fifty-two chains. TENDERS are required for the SUPPLY and DELIVERY of Six Hundred more or less, TELEGRAPH POLES, between Reeflou and Lyell, at mark pegs along or near the dray road. \ They must be totara saplings, or sawn square ; if saplings they must be not less than ten inches at the butts and eight inches at the heads, twenty and twenty- five feet; ong, straight and sound, and stripped of the bark two feet at the top end ; if sawn they must be eight inches at the butts and six inches at the heads, sound, free from sap, bad knots, shakes or speckled timber, same lengths as above, and will have to be submitted to inspection before they are accepted. Delivery must be completed within eighfc weeks after the contract is signed. Tenders must enclose the sum of twenty pounds to be forfeited in the event of refusing to take up the contract. Two approved sureties must be found by the accepted tenderer, or cash deposited to the amount of twenty per cent, of the contract, as a guarantee for its due fulfilment. Tenders marked " Tenders for Poles," and addressed the "Inspector of Telegraphs, Keefton," will be received ju till Noon of Saturday, December 13, 1373. By order of the Telegraph Commissioner, C.
