The manager of the Bank of New Zealand has been charged, under the Quartz Crushing-machine Eegulation and Inspection Act with neglecting to use the register provided by the Government for entering gold, and was fined L 5, the j Magistrate saying that he had no option. The manager appeals on the ground that the register supplied by the Inspector had no columns for pennyweights and grains.
