There was a semi-panic on the Stock Exchange yesterday, but the excitement has since calmed down. The fire at Boston was arrested by blowing up buildings. The latest return • gives the loss at eighty million dollars. The English insurance companies lose heavily. The district destroyed consisted principally of new granite buildings, and comprised 939 business premises and sixty dwellings. Rawiinson, in his inaugural address at the meeting of the Geographical Society, declared' that Stanley had well earned the Society's medal. He also announced that the friends of Dr Livingston© had organised a relief expedition to start from the West Coast up to Congo river. "
