London, Aug. 22. The produce market is languid. Wool steadily advanced, and, towards the close of the sales, closed at ah advance on opening rates of 2d to 3d since the sale ; the market is firm and prices well maintained, with a fair enquiry. New Zealand flax sales are flat, and the bulk bought iv, 700 bales, were sold at a decline. Tow, midling, at 32s lOd ; goodj 365 ; fine, 393. Tallow sold freeiy, but at the close of the market was less active. Sheep, 42s 3d to 42s 9d; beef, 22s to 41s 3d. Hides in good demand, at Is 8d advance ; 307 New Zealand sold at 6Jd ; leather in active demand, at 13s 4d advance ; sales of best, 13s to 15s; seconds and stained, 12s to 143. Butter, fair, 50s; beeswax, 8s to ss ; dark, 7s to 303. New York, Sept. 2. Rates of freight are advanced to Dunedin 17^c per foot, and Wellington 50c. Wool has undergone no change, nor has the tone of. the market. There is little disposition to take large parcels. Sales include 261 bales of Australian, at 57c to 58c. Flax very quiet. Hemp, no sales reported, prices nominally 9c to 10c ; good at auction; 185 bales damaged New Zealand sold at s§c to B£c cash. Tow, 3|c. Kerosene inactive, although prices have advanced, and there.; is still an upward tendency. Market dosed firm. Devoes, 32c. Oysters and lobsters scarce, and prices firm. Dried apples firm. At the Boston wool market there was » fair request, and sales of New Zealand 55 to 59c. Wheat, New York, Idol 20c. San Ijbanoisco, Sept. 11. The Olympia, with Nebraska's passengers, has not arrived. The Idaho is engaged by the agents of the line to make" up for loßfc time. Breadstuffs, heavy transactions. Wheat, Idol 60c; flour, Sdols 60c. Liverpool quotations for wheat on September 0 were
