DISCONTENT AT THE ' ROPER RIVER. 'MINERS RETIMING^ Adelaide, Oct. o. A telegram received last night from Palmerston states that dissatisfaction is expressed at the alleged non-existence of alluvial gold fields. Many were returning without visiting the fields. Westcolt and other miners were satis-, fied with the reefing prospects and collecting quartz for crushing. There were above sixty men in the ■vicinity of "Yam Creek. ' The statements at Palmerston concerning the diggings are contradictory. All was quiet. Nothing has been heard concerning the interruption of cable, communication. The Assembly agreed to give LIOOO for the first hundred, tons of flar. > Wheat, 5s 6d. . •
Carroll, Beard, and Company, Tambaroora, crushed over 1200oz from 14 tons stone. A rich copper lode underlying quartz has been found in the Gooderick Goldmining Company's ground. Payable gold has been struck at 250 ft near Gulgong, where the washdiit is 2ft thick. . > . Four of the crew of the W. S. Fox have been murdered by natives at Apia Island.
