Grey River Argus Office, _ Thursday evening. The amount of revenue received at the Customs on goods passed for home consumption to-day wm £40 8s lid.
Chiustohurch.— The Lyttelton Times of the 7th inst. reports :— Breadstuffß are decidedly easier, and sales of wheat are reported at fully 2d> per bushel lower than last week. Thei cause may be attributed to the heavy crops of wheat in California, where prices rule at equal to 3s 6d to 3s lOd per bushel for wheat, and L 9 10s for flour. Advices have been received of shipmonts of wheat going forward to Sydney, and the Nevada brought a small parcel of flour for Auckland. . Quotations for tho moment are almost nominal at 4s 8d to 4s 9d, as buyers are very cautious in their operations. The millers still quote Ll3 for flour in bakers' parcels, but a good reduction would no doubt be taken for a Targe line. Barley is not to be had in any quantity ; we quote 6s to 63 6d for good malting. Prime milling oats are scarce at 2s Id to 2s 2d, and gpod feed sells freely at 2s. In provisions, a fair trade has been done in hams and bacon. Butter is very firm at Is id to Is Id. Cheese has advanced, and good samples are readily placed at Bd.
