PROCEEDINGS IN PARLIAMENT.
Wellington, July 3Ct
In reply to Mr Steward, the Government said they did not deem it advisable to introduce any amendment in the. law affecting newspapers or libel. The House has been in Committee on the Public Health Bill all the afternoon. It is understood that the Ministry absolutely refused to accede to the demands of the Provincial caucus, and that hostile action will consequently be adopted. Mr Reader Wood has given notice of a motion expressing regret of the House at the Government not carrying out the resolution relative to calling Parliament to assemble at Dunedin. In the Legislative Council, the Hon. H. J. Miller took his seat as a member of the Ministry. ;
