MR. JOHN HALL JOINS THE MINISTRY. GOVERNMENT PROPOSE WEST COAST PROVINCE. THE SUPERINTENDENT TO BE ELECTIVE. [NEW ZEALAND PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, July 19. The Hon. John Hall resigned his seat 'for Heathcote, was called to the Legislative Council, and has joined the Cabinet without office. It is understood , that the Hon. H. J. Miller will also join the- Cabinet on his arrival from Auckland, and assist Mr Hall. . ;■ - : , ■ ■ : ; In reply to Parata, Mr M'Lean stated that the Government intended shortly to add two Maori members to the Legislative Council. In reply to Mr Collins, Mr Yogel promised to introduce an amendment to the Distillation Act, to enable innkeepers to brew on their oWh premises. The Com mittee of Inquiry into O'Conor's case consists of Messrs Pearce, Gillies, Kenny, Murray, Swanson, Sir D. Monro, O'Rorke, Rolleston, Studholm, White, Biyce, Carrington, and Steward. The Government are going to introduce a Bill to form the West Coast Gold Fields into a Province, with an elective Superintendent. Thomas Gray, settler at Papakura, has been found dead in his bed, cut over the eye by some sharp instrument. His wife has been arrested on suspicion. The deceased was 50 years of age ; his wife 70. The Herald condemns Sheehan's proposal to hand over public works and the future fate of the Colony to the tender mercies of Provincial Governments. Napier, July 19. '..
