The s.B. Rangitoto, which was tendered at Greymouth yesterday, brings Austratralian news up to June 22. The following are the more recent and prominent items, as contained in Greville's telegraphic summary :— Melbourne, June 22. The nominations for the election of the new.Ministry show that five are opposed and two unopposed. It is believed that all will be re-elected. A great exposure has been made of a manipulation of the Land Act by the permission of the evasion of penalties for non-compliance with the conditions of the Act; also, of a corrupt subsidy to the Times, a Ministerial journal, at the .rate of L7OOO a-year, in Government advertisements. It has been determined by the -new Government to nullify the San Francisco postal arrangements with Mr Webb, and to rescind the Hoey appointment. The new Government promise not to interfere with the fiscal policy for the present. J ames Stevenson, newly arrived by the Ben Ledi, from London, shot himself at QueensclifFe. .'■ ; A great yield of 3600z : of gold from 12 tons of quartz at Daylesford is reported. " The action of Clampit v. Dr Blair resulted in a nonsuit. Appell, a levanting sharebroker from Sandhurst, was intercepted at the Heads, and taken with a large sum in his possession on board the mail steamer. , . Captain Moonlite Egertou, the bank robber, one ©f the gaol breakers at Ballarat, has been re-taken with two others. An organisation has been set on foot, including Coppin, Harwood, Stewart, and IJennings, to re-build the Royal Theatre. A proposal has been made to build an Opera House. Kate Vinson, •nee Warde, the actress, is dead. There is great excitement in electioneering matters. Jackson, found guilty of an outrage on an old woman at Footscray, and sentenced to death, has hrd his sentence commuted to twenty years' penal servitude, the first three years in irons. The Hon. Mr Casey has been appointed Minister of Agriculture. Mr Justice Barry, is seriously indisposed.
