GREY VALLEY ELECTION.
The poll to determine the election of a member for the Grey Valley district, to serve in the Nelson Provincial Council took place on Saturday, but the moat intense apathy characterised the whole, proceedings at Cobden and elsewhere. The official declaration will be made to-day at noon, but the following returns are, we believe, correct, and Mr Guinness consequently has been returned : —
Thus Mr Guinness has a majority of 44. There are fully 3000 electors qualified to vote, but only 122 exercised the privilege at five polling places. The successful candidate can fairly Bay that he represents a minority. . ■ :
