THE PRINCE OF WALES.

Her Majesty addressed her people, at the;; beginning of ; the year, in a very beautiful letter, thanking them for the sympathy thay had manifested, and asking that tho prayers for the complete restoration of her dear son's health might not be discontinued. It lias just been announced that the Queen desires to return public thanks to Providence. There i 8 to be a procession to St. Paul's, after the fashion of the time of George 111. It may be necessary to consult] Parliament on tho subject, as the expense of the preparations will be heavy. The intimation has given much satisfaction and there is no doubt that if the Queen's health enables her to carry out heripurpose, the scene will be a very grand and memorable one. There is talk of the Prince accompanying his royal mother oh the occasion, but though this would be most appropriate, the nation would rather hear that he had exchanged the English climate, at present most afflicting, for a softer one, and that !he was regaining his strength. For the results' of an illness like that his royal highness has gone through are not to be got r rid of in a few weeks. We are informed that as a patient the Prince was most docile and manageable, but that his thoughtfulness for the comfort of his physicians and all about him was consideration itself. The Princess is simply described as- the' best nurse in the world.

The British Medical Journal says :— ■ "The result of the consultation of the physicians of the Prince on Saturday last was, as is known, highly favorable. There remains only the inevitable weakness following a most severe and protracted illness, some stiffness of the limb, and a trace of the trouble which affected the chest. The Prince needs now only time, rest, and the kind of care with which he is surrounded in his family, to ensure steadyand complete restoration to health."
