SYSTEMATIC MURDERS IN SYDNEY.

Nichollsand Lester alias Frowde, the two men arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the murder of Bridges, the steward of H.M.S. Rosario, at Parramatta, were brought before the Police Court at Sydney on the 17th March, and remanded for eight days. Upon., his arrest Lester had in his possession a silver presentation watch, inscribed "Presented to W. B. Walker by the M. H. Congregation."' It is ; supposed that the real owner was formerly a -Victorian resident, and the Melbourne police authorities have been communicated with in order to ascertain whether any person of |that name is missing, as foul play is suspected. From the discoveries already made by the police, Walker, the. supposed owner of the watch, it seems arrived at Sydney recently from Melbourne, and is missing. The river is being thoroughly searched. A hat supposed to belong to one of the murderers, has been found in the mangroves, near Rydo. These circumstances have increased the excitement. From facts which have already come' tb : their knowledge, the police surmise that the miscreants have committed other similar crimes to that which they are now charged with, and it has been discovered that they were in the habit of inserting advertisements to fill situations, and it was by that method they met Bridges. It has been ascertained that Walker formerly resided at Mountain Hut, Victoria, and has beeen missing Bince last Tuesday. Some more of his property, has. been traced to the prisoners' possession. Nicholls maintains an air of bravado ; but Lester, wbo is a lad of about 19, seems terror-stricken. ■■- „ -V>
