Chbhtchubch.— The Press of Saturday last reports :— / The latest files from Melbourne quote oats very doll of sale at 2s 9d to 2s 19a for feed, ana 3s Ld to 3s 4d for milling, with a downward tendency ; at these prices very little shipping is likely to be done. We understand a few small sales of new wheat have been made for forward delivery at 3s 9d, and this quotation seems to be the general price offering. Several parcels of old wheat have recently been shipped to England, so that for the moment our market is very bare, and as high as 4s 3d has been paid by the millers for immediate use. A large number of samples of new oats have been offering during the past lew days, but we have not heard of any salea being effected at anything over Is 9d for best milling. These prices must be very unsatisfactory to the growers, and with a deficient yield must certainly entail a loss. Flour remains high considering the price of new wheat, and we certainly expect the present prices will scarcely be sustained. Beat brands rule from Lll to Ll2. Quotations for barley are merely nominal ; but owing to the small crop very high rates are likely to rule during tho ensuing season. We understand as high as 4s has been offered for a superior sample of Chevalier. Butter is not in roch good supply, bat prices do not advance beyond 4d. Stocks of cheese are easier, and small sales have been effected at 3|d to 3£d. Hams and bacon stand at 7d for bare, and 7id in cloth.
