Late Fiji papers state that the agitation of Levuka in favor of sending an expedition to the Ba Coast to punish the murderers of Messrs Spiers and M'lntosh was still proceeding. One settler belonging to the disturbed district attended one of the meetings and said, "He had come begging for assistance to save the lives of his fellow countrymen on the Ba River. He came with no empty statement, no wordy puff. He had left behind him on the Ba his wife and six children, and before ho left he. placed a revolver in each of their little hands, and told them when they were told to shoot they were to fire upon the nearest big-headed native they could see." A proceeding certainly calculated to develop homicidal tendencies at a very early age in the future settlers in Fiji.
