Wellington, August 3. Miss Aylnier, a passenger from Nelson to the Bluff, died on board the Rangitoto during the passage from Lyttelton to Port Chalmers. The s.s. Luna arrived with the Governor, family, and suite to-day. The Mayor piesented an address on landing. There were guards of honor and a large crowd, despite the unfavorable weather. The Luna left Auckland on Tuesday. Wanganui, August 3. M'Donald has made a statement that the witness named Elliott set fire to the hotel by an arrangement to defraud the insurance company. The prosecution is still taking evidence. Auckland, August 1. The share market is firm. Caledonians, Ll9B to L2OO ; Thames and Tookeys, L3B to L4O ; Otagos, L 3 15s. Kennedy, late of Dunedin, has accepted the challenge on behalf of the Otago Volunteers. L 25 deposit has been made.
