We are glad to be able to state, on the authority of a letter from Mr Bright himself to a personal andpolitical friend, that the right hon. gentleman's health is at present better than it has been at any time since the commencement of his illness. Mr Bright will presently visit Scotland to enjoy the sport of salmon-fishing. A contemporary says : — "We believe that the Marquis of Normanby, the new Governor of Queensland, has applied to be accorded the usual privilege of having a military attache". This appointment would appear to be unnecessary, as there are now no regular troops in the colony, but if the colonists are prepared to bear the expense, let them have a military attache' by all means."
