Bluff, January 20. The s.g. Gothenburg left Hobson's Bay at 3.30 p.m. on the 14th January, and arrived at Bluff Heads at 12.30 a.m. on the 20th. She passed the Queen of the Thames off Queenscliff. " Passengers — Mr Turnbull, Rev. C. J. Evans, Mr A. Russell, Mr Chaplain, Mr Paul, Ah Ching, Mr Kelly, Rev. Mr M'Leod, Mr Cowell ; and 46 steerage for all ports. Cargo— For Dunedin, 90 tons ; Lyttelton, 17 tons ; Wellington, 31 tons ; Nelson, 12 tons. Melbourne, Jan. 14. The revenue for the quarter ending 31st December shows a deficit of L 45,000, and on the year a deficit of L 139,000, being a quarter of a million less than the Treasurer anticipated. The weather is showery. The markets continue to have an upward tendency. Flour reached Ll4 10s ; wheat, 6s to 6s 3d. Oats very firm. A dissolution of Parliament is expected after the mail arrives. * New candidates continue to appear daily. Adelaide, Jan. 13. The new Land Bill was lost through the Speaker's casting vote against agreeing to a compromise with the Upper House. Seven hundred and fifty pounds worth of furniture has been forfeited for being undervalued at the Customs. Sydney, Jan. 13. The brig Freak has been wrecked. She was insured for LI2OO in the Australasian oflice. A woman named Rumple has committed suicide, after cutting the throats of her six children, two of whom died. The others are likely to recover. Brisbane, Jan. 13. The Northern blacks are becoming troublesome to the miners.
