moderate lots at 4s Id to 4s 2d per bushel, or 7s 3Ad to 7s s Jet per cental, General merchandise has met with little notice throughout the forenoon. Cornsacks are very iirm at 12a 3d. Oandles are saleable at lOftd to lOJd. Sugars command a fair amount of attention. The trade purchase freely, and the market is well supported. The Wynaud s cargo, amounting to 4,052 bags, will be offered on Monday.
Melbourne.—The Anjus, of the 28th Nov., reports: — In the import markets this forenoon little of a very special nature has been allowed to transpiie. The business transacted has partaken too much of a retail character to admit of much comment. The secretary of the Chamber of Commerce has addressed a circular, accompanied with a cental table, to the. various parties interested in the new cental system proposed to be brought into operation in all the colonies on the Ist January next, and with a.view to familiarise the public with the system before its actual establishment, we propose for the future to give our quotations for grain at per cental as well as per ton or bushel, as the case may be, in .the;hope that by adopting this course the proposed change may to some extent be facilitated thereby. Iv breadstuff's, the demand for flour is exceedingly quiet, business being restricted to the elisposal of trade parcels, at Ll3 pet ton, or 13s per cental. There is no inquiry for larger parcels. Quotations for countrybrands rule at Ll2los toLI2 15s per ton, or 12s 6d to 12s 9d per cental. Wheat comes forward very slowly; we hear, however, of small, pa reels being disposed of. Murray, wheat was sold at os 9d per bushel, oi 9s 7d per cental; 5s Bd, or 9a 5d per cental, was offered, and: refused for another parcel. Ordinary Victoriau samples of coast wheat have been quitted at 5s 6d per bushel, or 9s 2d per cental. A parcel of 2,000 bushels New Zaaland, very good quality, was sold at a price withheld. For oats there is a steady inquiry, though no large sales can be reported ; ordinary qualities are moved off at 3s 5d per bushel, or 8s 64d per cental; finer qualities also found buyers in moderate lots at 3s to 3s 8d per bushel or 8s ll£d to. 9s 2d per cental.
